Why? The list is to large and to sad to even begin to explain... This will be my 3rd year starting this journey to self-sufficiency and hopefully the 3rd time will be the charm... I have come to a place in my life that I am tired of being used, abused and taken advantage of and I will no longer allow others to suppress my spirit. So perhaps through the journey of growing seeds in God's backyard I too can grow myself into the person I use to know and into the person I am suppose to be. Merry New Years y'all!suzette daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04325473941522641073noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2759589033342404759.post-26727074818416972482010-03-25T22:46:00.004-04:002010-03-26T03:26:57.555-04:00Shiitake Mushroom

Today sweetgum grove farm began a new path along our journey in sustainable urban farming. Where Did February GO?Here we are March 4th 2010 and it has been awhile since I blogged. The month of February has flown by and all I can say is Snow, Snow GO AWAY! I am so ready for Spring to get her and in a mere 16 days it will arrive. Yet as anyone who was raised in NC knows we sometimes have snow into April and even as late as May so Mother Nature can and will play tricks on us. That said I wish all a wonderful snow less weekend for I must plant, plant and plant some more.suzette daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04325473941522641073noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2759589033342404759.post-90293732121426335122010-02-08T06:52:00.003-05:002010-02-08T07:02:37.587-05:00<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 212px; height: 98px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio5riDJc2PjojlHqO_VOnF2AqRVjbePQPuzX0dLsR4dLg8AAySxTdNUJZL1Ll_jmRZ7d-4HPigOxxfH_Z_1xcK9rSAc70sVNlWCwsm2XOAw-_Ufhd-allgLEXa45VymKhaYWu2YyVBKA0/s400/GGINCembroidery.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5435839350143154770" />
Reducing our carbon footprint is an important part of sustainable living and buying where you live is an vital step towards a greener lifestyle. Thus, sweetgum grove farm's, sustainable urban farming mission would fall within this definition. There is a growing movement that has gained speed in recent years for a more simple and back to basics way of life where independence is fostered through self reliance. A buzz word in the food world is organic yet, the course to this point has truly been organic in nature with every new discovery on the road to sustainable urban farming we are progressing to the next logical step in self reliance. A side note worth mentioning is, the fact that the basic principles of sustainable urban farming were common place 100 years ago yet, seem in part to have been lost in the evolution to a technologically advanced society. Although the extremely cold winter of 2009-2010 has been challenging for the worms, I expect to weather the winter with only a small loss of our growing numbers!suzette daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04325473941522641073noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2759589033342404759.post-24515108093433027722010-01-26T05:36:00.000-05:002010-01-27T04:53:39.680-05:00luffas in bloom...<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigJuANe3F4sQNeIfrpGMpQV1hmyBmP1zvLb3kktpUd67etKGgC1jYQzTPBLBdWMk1qaCEKjYptr4HoOMzd_tUpqBj_URfKyz_-rqZggxXk82e082U6-iwHTpzMtqMV8Y0T5oWkEk7J300/s400/100_0366.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431355044043564946" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFASLVYxjsaWDxosArjOS51633sDQHoKzVikaW-84vbeAQ7GAVw4IllpQ9RPB_aUzbOjy9FmYLhssI9QjBM09t7cJJI3PLzALOZIg_-A3f5kn7JmE2Y3b1SbDjct5R5PuykrJrhz2tGGY/s400/100_0354.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431355033522497762" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDuqGgh2dwcCfsF_CH8gwkKSLUI9tDAjxbOsVpnCj8xeZFzfPTP-QaBsteKVr4fdM03QBS_QyDH0h011PDKGzQUz4EL_yM4MM0cy_e96TI9IBDgzyLI3spV_-K_in1tKQuypJBldjIRmU/s400/100_0353.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431355030188646066" />

seen here are various stages of our 2009 luffa crop.suzette daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04325473941522641073noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2759589033342404759.post-77581113868006813522010-01-26T05:09:00.000-05:002010-01-28T00:34:58.796-05:00sweetgum grove farm business card The business card I designed is posted to the right of this entry. This is the product of my latest efforts to prepare sweetgum grove farm for professional branding of our name and products. I am hopeful that all the years of education both real life and formal have better prepared me to start this business venture with the right footing allowing a strong foundation to quickly build the brand presence of our 100% natural products as well as to showcase the true value of sustainable urban farming. Please check back often for our progress.
Thank you
Suzette Daniellesuzette daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04325473941522641073noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2759589033342404759.post-51808552020194277662010-01-24T04:47:00.000-05:002010-01-26T21:47:04.011-05:00Off and RunningHello sweetgum grove farm is in the process of starting the growing season.
