The memories of my grandparents brings a warm smile to my face, & the images of their retirement garden not only warm my heart yet amaze me! Having a "green thumb" was an understatement at best in describing the gardening and growing skills both Bart and Gladys had achieved. That said, here is the start of a new adventure.
Up until 2009 my growing and gardening experience had been minimal. Yet, from fertile memories of my family’s gardens of my youth, I thought, that maybe I could gather enough genetic predisposition, & research, enough know how, to be able to grow at least some fresh produce and vegetables for my family. Through my research my eyes where opened to an entirely different view of & for gardening...sustainable urban farming!
sweetgum grove farm grew from my family’s rich gardening past, & my present need to feed my family as economically as possible. Along the way the information I gathered opened additional potential to make income from sustainable urban farming and vermiculture, worm castings & worm teas.
Thus, here are the fruits of our labors...
